Update: Shia Labeouf left the project and Actor Daniel Radcliffe has taken over the lead role.
Actor Shia Labeouf is set to have the lead role in Horns, the movie adaptation of the novel of the same name written by Joe Hill. Mandalay Pictures bought indeed the film rights to the novel, and intends to bring the story to the big screen. Scriptwriter Keith Bunin has been hired to pen the screenplay.
A few words from Producer Cathy Schulman:
"Shia is an extremely gifted actor who responded to this novel with total enthusiasm from the beginning. We share a passion to bring the iconic character of Ig Perrish to life."

Plot:
"Merrin Williams is dead, slaughtered under inexplicable circumstances, leaving her beloved boyfriend Ignatius Perrish as the only suspect. On the first anniversary of Merrin’s murder, Ig spends the night drunk and doing awful things. When he wakes the next morning he has a thunderous hangover... and horns growing from his temples. Ig possesses a terrible new power to go with his terrible new look—a macabre gift he intends to use to find the monster who killed his lover. Being good and praying for the best got him nowhere. Now it's time for revenge..."
I dug a bit further about those horns, they're something like Wonder Woman's lasso of truth: those around Ig who see the horns are compelled to reveal all the nasty things that they've been hiding in their head.
